Daewoo Machine Tools, a Korean legacy within the Doosan group

TLDR: Daewoo Machine Tools, today Doosan (DN Solutions), developed in the 1990s the Puma and Lynx CNC lathes that established the company on the global market for high-performance turning and milling.

The machine tool division of the Doosan group — one of the oldest Korean companies, with more than 120 years of history — has been active since 1976, with over 1,000 machines already built after only three years of operation. In the 1990s the company established itself on the global turning market with the Puma and Lynx models under the Daewoo brand. Many Daewoo Puma and Lynx machines, although now sold under the Doosan brand, remain in service in workshops worldwide, requiring rigorous spindle maintenance to continue delivering accuracy and productivity.

A range of robust spindles, from the compact lathe to the multi-axis lathe

TLDR: Daewoo Puma and Lynx lathes use ASA A2-6 nose spindles, with rotation speeds typically between 4,500 and 6,000 rpm for 11 to 15 kW, combined on some configurations with a sub-spindle and VDI 30 live tooling.

Daewoo Puma CNC lathes use an ASA A2-6 nose main spindle, with a bar capacity of up to 65 mm and typical rotation speeds of 4,500 to 6,000 rpm for 11 to 15 kW. On multi-axis configurations (Puma 200LMSC and similar models), a complementary sub-spindle (bar capacity up to 36 mm) runs at speeds close to 4,500 rpm, with dual C axis and axial and radial live tool holders in VDI 30 interface, allowing complete machining of complex parts in a single setup. Lathes in the Lynx series cover similar applications with turning diameters varying by model.
