Heckert, decades of expertise in Chemnitz, today a Starrag subsidiary

TLDR: Heckert (Chemnitz, Germany, part of the Starrag group) designs modular and flexible horizontal machining centres, with a range covering 4-axis (Athletic) and 5-axis (X5, T-Series) configurations, for complete machining of prismatic parts in a single clamping position.

Founded under the auspices of the Treuhand-Anstalt Berlin trust company under the name « Heckert Chemnitzer Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH », the company has built over the decades a reputation for precision and rigidity, values embodied by Heckert machining centres throughout their long history on the market. Part of the Starrag group, Heckert offers flexible and modular horizontal machining centres in the Athletic series (HEC 630, 800, 1000, 1600, 1800), allowing complete machining on several sides in a single clamping position, to reduce production times and increase machining quality. The X5 series, developed from the HEC Athletic, is fitted with a numerically controlled tilting rotary table for flexible complete machining of housing-shaped parts. The more recent T series is a 5-axis horizontal machining centre with a fast rotary table, positioned and driven on both sides.

A range of robust ISO 50 spindles, with process monitoring

TLDR: Heckert horizontal machining centres feature ISO 50 interface spindles, with rotation speeds of up to 2,500 rpm for powers of 37 kW, combined with rotary tables offering very fine indexing (0.001°) and tool and process monitoring systems.

Heckert Athletic series horizontal machining centres (for example the HEC 1600) feature an ISO 50 interface spindle, with a spindle bearing diameter of 200 mm, a 37 kW drive motor and rotation speeds from 20 to 2,500 rpm. The associated boring spindle can reach 150 mm in diameter, with an axial travel (W axis) of 740 mm. The rotary table offers very fine indexing, in the order of 0.001° on the B axis, for precise positioning of heavy prismatic parts. These machines integrate tool and process monitoring systems (ARTIS technology), as well as spindle solutions specially designed for specific applications such as the wind power industry.

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair the ISO 50 spindles of Athletic series machining centres?

Yes, we work on these spindles, whatever the configured rotation speed.

Do you work on the spindles of T series 5-axis centres with fast rotary tables?

Yes, we diagnose and repair these spindles, taking into account their table driven on both sides.

What is the average lead time for a full overhaul?

Allow around 20 working days in the workshop, depending on the condition of the spindle and the availability of parts (bearings, seals, specific components).

Do you work on spindles specially designed for the wind power industry?

Yes, we diagnose and repair these spindles, suited to the specific requirements of this sector.

Do you offer a preventive maintenance contract for a fleet of Heckert machines?

Yes, we draw up preventive maintenance programmes tailored to your production pace, particularly relevant for automotive and industrial components.
