After a difficult period in the 1990s — court-supervised settlement in 1994 then insolvency in 1995 — the business was continued by the former after-sales manager, Gerhold Knöß, and the company became Heyligenstaedt Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH in May 1996. It took over the lathe and machining centre range of Maschinenfabrik Ravensburg, then in 2000 the table and floor type boring machines as well as the high-speed gantry centres of Hermann KOLB, for which it now holds the manufacturing rights (RAVENSBURG and KOLBCNC brands). For more than 145 years, the Heyligenstaedt name has been associated with high-performance turning, milling and boring machines for medium and large workpieces. That history has a concrete consequence in the workshop: a Heyligenstaedt spindle may be carried by a machine whose nameplate reads RAVENSBURG or KOLB, without changing anything about how we handle it.
