Jung spindle and motor spindle repair
Brochexpress is an independent workshop specializing in the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of Jung spindles and motor spindles — a German maker of high-precision surface and profile grinders, founded in 1919 and now merged with Blohm as Blohm Jung GmbH, part of the United Grinding group.
Jung, a century of high-precision grinders
TLDR: Jung (founded in 1919 in Berlin by Karl Jung, based in Göppingen since 1948) builds high-precision surface and profile grinders. It merged with Blohm in 2008 within the United Grinding group.
Karl Jung founded his company in Berlin in 1919 to develop high-precision grinding machines. It produced its first hydraulic surface grinders in 1925 and was making high-precision spindles from 1931. After the Berlin plant was destroyed in 1945, the company was rebuilt in 1948 in Göppingen as K. Jung GmbH. It launched the HF 50 series in 1962, then Germany's first CNC surface and profile grinder in 1977 (JF series). Taken over by the Körber Schleifring group in 1998 (renamed United Grinding in 2013), Jung merged with Blohm in 2008 to form Blohm Jung GmbH. The brand claims more than 19,000 machines delivered in over 50 countries.
Grinding spindles at the heart of precision
TLDR: On Jung grinders, the wheel spindle runs at speeds of around 800 to 4,500 rpm depending on the model, with power ratings of around 5 to 10 kW on the examples found.
Jung made the precision spindle one of its strengths as early as the 1930s. The later grinders, from the HF 50 to the JF, JE, J 600 and Vario, equip toolmaking, mould, semiconductor and medical technology workshops. Machine listings give a few reference points: a 2004 J 630-D is listed with a spindle range of 800 to 4,200 rpm, 10 kW at maximum speed (5 kW optional), a 300 mm grinding wheel and a Siemens Sinumerik control. A 1990 JF 415 is listed at 900 to 4,500 rpm with a Heidenhain digital readout. These values vary with model and year; we confirm them on quotation.
On a grinder, a worn Jung spindle shows directly on the part: runout, chatter facets, degraded surface finish. That is why every Jung motor spindle that comes into our workshop goes through a full inspection before any overhaul.
