Koepfer spindle and motor spindle repair
Brochexpress is an independent workshop specialising in the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of Koepfer spindles and motor spindles — the German manufacturer based in Schwenningen, a specialist in high-precision gear hobbing, part of the EMAG group since 2005.
Koepfer, German specialist in gear hobbing
TLDR: EMAG Koepfer GmbH (Schwenningen, Germany, part of the EMAG group since early 2005) develops and builds generating milling machines for the production of high-precision gear teeth, with customers worldwide, in particular manufacturers of power tools and geared motors and suppliers to the automotive industry.
EMAG Koepfer GmbH develops and builds generating milling machines at its Schwenningen site for the production of high-precision gear teeth, with a worldwide customer base made up mainly of manufacturers of power tools and geared motors and suppliers to the automotive industry. The range covers vertical hobbing machines (VL, VLC series) and horizontal machines (K series), with modular solutions integrated within EMAG machines using pick-up spindle automation. The K 300 machine, presented as a universal solution for gear wheel production, can machine a wide range of parts, from module 1 shafts to module 4 helical spur pinions, on materials as varied as alloy steel, aluminium, brass, bronze and plastics.
A range of hob spindles and main spindles for generating hobbing
TLDR: Koepfer hobbing machines use a hob spindle inclined at 45° for optimal chip evacuation, combined with a main workpiece spindle typically running at around 800 rpm and a hob spindle reaching 2,500 to 4,000 rpm depending on the model.
On the K 300 hobbing machine, the 45° inclination of the hob ensures very good chip evacuation during cutting, with or without cutting fluid, while offering an ergonomic configuration. The main workpiece spindle typically runs at 800 rpm, while the hob spindle reaches 2,500 to 4,000 rpm depending on the configuration. Quick-clamping systems are fitted to the main spindle, the tailstock and the hob, allowing the machine to be reconfigured for another part in less than 20 minutes. On the K 160 Longbed horizontal machine, designed for long motor shafts (up to 1,000 mm in length, 25 kg), the hob spindle and the workpiece spindle are not subject to a warm-up curve, which removes the need for prior adjustment. On the modular vertical machines (VL 4 H, VLC 200 H), pick-up spindle automation is integrated as standard equipment, with a MINERALIT® polymer concrete base guaranteeing low-vibration cutting.
