Sarix, the Swiss leader in micro-EDM since 1993

TLDR: Sarix SA (Switzerland, founded in 1993 by the engineers E. Salim and G. Rigamonti) was created to meet a need the major EDM equipment manufacturers could not satisfy: producing extremely small features and holes with consistent accuracy, today recognised in watchmaking, aerospace, automotive, medical and semiconductors.

Founded in 1993 by two engineers with extensive experience of the EDM process, Sarix SA grew from a simple observation: despite attempts by the leading EDM equipment manufacturers, nobody was able to meet the growing demand for a machine capable of producing very small features and very small holes. Producing entirely in Switzerland for 30 years, Sarix develops high-precision micro-drilling and micro-milling machines using EDM and laser, used in watchmaking, aerospace, automotive injection systems, aircraft and power generation turbines, medical instruments, micromechanics and semiconductors. The MACHline range, a family of Micro EDM machining centres, combines several machining processes in a single machine to handle complex 3D structures.

A range of rotary spindles with automatic electrode wear compensation

TLDR: Sarix machines use a rotary spindle with electrode feed and automatic wear compensation, available in a Twin Axis configuration with two independent spindles (roughing and finishing), with an electrode range from 0.035 to 3 mm in diameter.

On Sarix micro-EDM machines, a rotary spindle provides electrode feed and automatic wear compensation, a system essential to maintaining machining accuracy throughout the erosion process. The Twin Axis capability, available on the base module, allows two independent Z axes to be fitted with separate processing units — the customer can for example combine a roughing Micro EDM milling spindle and a finishing Micro EDM milling spindle on the same machine. Sarix also offers an automatic electrode feed spindle with C indexing, together with a cartridge electrode changer (up to eight electrodes) for automated production. The electrode range covers diameters from 0.035 to 3.0 mm, for lengths reaching 600 mm, with positioning accuracy down to ±0.002 mm.

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair rotary spindles with automatic electrode wear compensation?

Yes, we work on these spindles, which are essential to maintaining machining accuracy throughout the process.

Do you work on Twin Axis configurations with two independent spindles (roughing/finishing)?

Yes, we diagnose and repair both spindles, whatever the function assigned to them.

What is the average lead time for a full overhaul?

Allow around 20 working days in the workshop, depending on the condition of the spindle and the availability of the parts specific to these precision technologies.

Do you work on automatic electrode feed spindles with C indexing?

Yes, we diagnose and repair these spindles, together with the cartridge electrode changer.

Do you offer a preventive maintenance contract for a fleet of Sarix machines?

Yes, we set up preventive maintenance programmes matched to how critical these precision machines are to your production.
