Somab spindle and motorized spindle repair
Brochexpress is an independent workshop specialising in the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of Somab spindles and motorized spindles — a French manufacturer of precision lathes and multitasking centres, recognised for its granitan frames and its large-capacity lathes.
Somab, French manufacturer of precision lathes and multitasking centres
TLDR: Somab (Société de Mécanique et d'Automatisme du Bourbonnais, Moulins, France) designs universal lathes, teach-in lathes and turning-milling multitasking centres, with ranges covering precision (Optimab), batch production (Deltamab) and large dimensions (Maximab).
Based in Moulins in the Allier department, Somab is a French manufacturer of lathes, milling machines and multitasking machines recognised for the quality of its machine structures. The Optimab range, in granitan, targets universal precision turning with a significant reduction in vibration and low sensitivity to temperature variation. The Deltamab range, also with a granitan structure, is dedicated to batch and multi-axis part machining, with configurations of up to 8 axes including a sub-spindle and a Y axis. The Maximab range, with a flat cast-iron bed, is intended for machining large and precise parts, with between-centres configurations of up to 25,000 mm. The manufacturer also offers turning-milling multitasking centres (Genymab) for advanced 5-axis machining.
A range of super-precision cartridge spindles and compact milling spindles
TLDR: Somab Optimab range lathes feature a cartridge spindle with super-precision angular contact ball bearings, greased for life, while Genymab multitasking centres combine a compact milling spindle with a fixed holder for turning operations.
Somab Optimab range universal lathes (350, 450) feature a cartridge spindle with super-precision angular contact ball bearings, greased for life, mounted on a 60° slant bed in granitan with attached prismatic slideways. On Genymab multitasking centres, a compact milling spindle (typical dimensions 367 x 200 x 134 mm) is combined with a fixed non-rotating holder for turning tools, guaranteeing high rigidity for advanced machining: gear cutting, form milling, hobbed gear milling, 5-axis machining, plunge milling and cycloidal milling. On Maximab range large-dimension lathes, the axes are driven by brushless motors and high-precision ball screws, with ground hardened cast-iron slideways for machining very large between-centres parts.
