Toyoda FH5000-series horizontal machining centres are equipped with taper 40 spindles, designed with four ceramic bearings at the front of the spindle for increased rigidity and reduced vibration. The manufacturer's patented hydraulic preload system enables the spindle to reach 15,000 rpm in less than one second without heat build-up, an asset particularly sought after for high-volume aluminium machining. These spindles deliver powers of around 37 kW for a torque of 303 Nm, combined with a direct-drive B-axis table for very short indexing times. On larger-capacity horizontal machining centres, taper 50 and higher-torque spindles are offered for the machining of massive parts and hard materials.
