WFL Millturn spindle repair
Brochexpress is an independent workshop specialising in the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of WFL Millturn spindles — an Austrian manufacturer and inventor of the multitasking mill-turn machine, a world reference for complete machining of complex parts in a single clamping.
WFL Millturn, the Austrian inventor of the multitasking mill-turn machine since 1993
TLDR: WFL Millturn Technologies (Linz, Austria, founded in 1993) is the only company in the world that develops and manufactures exclusively complete machining centres — the Millturn range — combining turning, milling, drilling, deep-hole drilling and gear cutting on a single machine, in a single clamping.
Founded in 1993 in Linz, WFL Millturn Technologies established itself as the inventor of the multitasking mill-turn machine, built on the philosophy of "Clamp once, machine complete": every operation required to manufacture a complex part is carried out on a single machine, in a single clamping, reducing downtime and improving accuracy. The Millturn range spans from the compact M20, aimed at the aerospace, automotive, plastics and industrial engineering sectors, to the largest configurations such as the M150, capable of handling parts weighing several tonnes. The more recent M70-G integrates a sub-spindle with tailstock and synchronisation function, for the complete machining of parts up to 8,000 mm long and 5,000 kg.
A range of high-power main and milling spindles
TLDR: WFL Millturn machines feature a main turning spindle and a separate milling spindle, with power ratings reaching up to 100 kW for the main spindle and 90 kW for the turning spindle on the most powerful models (M150, M80).
WFL Millturn machines combine a powerful turning motor spindle with a dedicated milling spindle, covering the full range of machining operations on a single machine. On the M80, the turn-mill unit with mechanical gearbox delivers 58 kW to the milling spindle and 90 kW to the turning spindle, with a 1,000 mm turning swing diameter. On the M150, the massive, heavy-duty construction combines a 100 kW main spindle with a 55 kW milling spindle, proven on the heaviest configurations. On earlier models such as the M30, the turning spindle develops 37 kW with a two-speed gearbox and an external C-axis, an architecture inherited from the earlier WNC slant-bed machines from Voest-Alpine, and still used on the M35, M40 and M50 models with modernised drives.

Frequently asked questions
Do you repair the main spindles and milling spindles of multitasking Millturn configurations?
Yes, we work on both types of spindle, taking care to preserve their synchronisation.
Do you work on the sub-spindles with tailstock of the M70-G range?
Yes, we diagnose and repair these sub-spindles, taking their synchronisation function into account.
What is the average lead time for a complete overhaul?
Allow around 20 working days in the workshop, depending on the condition of the spindle and the availability of parts (bearings, seals, specific components).
Do you intervene directly on site for very large spindles?
Yes, our team travels on site to diagnose and, whenever possible, carry out repairs directly on site, avoiding the complete dismantling of large, heavy spindles.
Do you offer a preventive maintenance contract for a fleet of WFL Millturn machines?
Yes, we draw up preventive maintenance programmes tailored to your production rate, particularly relevant for demanding aerospace and automotive applications.
