The SKF Super Precision range comprises several bearing types, each with characteristics matched to precise requirements: precision, stiffness, available space, speed, load, axial displacement and sealing all feed into the selection. The Silent series, developed in response to problems reported by spindle manufacturers, cuts noise and vibration in operation, in two designs — type D (high capacity, series 719 and 70), giving high system stiffness in a compact envelope, and type E (high speed, series 70), giving excellent thermal stability across a wide speed range.

These bearings use a ball-guided polyamide cage that softens the rattle heard at low speed — a normal phenomenon, but one often read as a sign of a fault. For the most speed-demanding applications, hybrid ceramic ball bearings complete the range, alongside angular contact thrust ball bearings designed for machine tool ball screw drives.
